I have set up a "home network" and the two slightly newer desktop machines (Dell 420 and Dell 430) are just talking beautifully to one another and internet access is fine. I have high speed Comcast internet access through a cable modem and a wired 8 port Linksys router. I have three computers in my home with a wired network that I installed some 15 years ago when I built the house. I am having no problems with video, audio or anything.EXCEPT the built in "wired" network adapter.which is described by the system as a Broadcom 440x 10/100 integrated controller. It's fast, it's very stable and it looks awesome. Everything went very smoothly and the laptop seems to be working perfectly on Windows 7 in nearly every regard. So, I decided to upgrade my laptop at the same time as I upgraded two newer desktop machines. I know that Dell doesn't include the 9400/E1705 laptop in their list of systems that are Windows 7 compatible, but I ran the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor and it really didn't show much in the way of hardware that wasn't compatible. Well, I'm not sure what to do past this point.
